I guess you could say I have always had a curious fascination of how layering unique scents with a soft flame, inside the simplicity of glass, can affect our energy or mood. Scents evoke memories and give us the ability to relive them in the same way we experienced them the first time.
With a lifelong interest in home apothecary, I started pouring candles in my kitchen in the 90’s and have tested hundreds of different waxes, fragrance oil blends, and wicks before finding the perfect blend made with coconut soy wax. Coming from 20+years in the aesthetic industry, it was important to me that I only used the cleanest and most eco-friendly ingredients.
We now craft artisanal candles in our studio using pure coconut soy wax sourced from the USA, phthalate-free fragrances and essential oils, 100% cotton braided wicks that are free of lead and zinc and then hand poured in small batches into beautiful glass that can be repurposed.
The inspiration behind our name The Flaming Moth came from sneaking out of the house as kids on Lopez Island. We used glass jars and tea lights, lighting the path to the beach to meet friends while attracting hundreds of little moths that had the same idea. I was always fascinated by the way they were attracted to the light and followed us on our adventures.
Like a moth to the flame…drawn by light and captured by scent. Each scent was inspired by travel, nature, adventures and experiences to evoke my favorite memories in hope to help you create yours.
